Do you have any of those friends who are always up for anything, no matter how crazy or out there your idea is? It turns out I do! Quite a few of them actually. Something I learned when I decided to start this podcast. Richard Gorvett is at the top of that list.
I am an INTJ. I live 90% of my life in my own head (AKA an overthinker), so although a lot of my ideas are WELL thought through when I action them, they seem quite impulsive to those who do not know me.
But, you know you have picked your friends well when you reach out to a bunch of them completely out of the blue, tell them you are starting a podcast and want to interview them next month, and they ALL say YES. And as I mentioned, Richard Gorvett is at the top of that list!
Richard and I met in Summer 2012 on a Youth Leadership Development retreat in Sydney, Australia. I was a first-time coach, he was the course director, and as we learned in this podcast interview, both of us were overwhelmed and slightly terrified by the responsibility we'd been entrusted with. We've both lived quite a wild and crazy life since then, but at this point in time, have found ourselves living 2 hours apart in our adopted home, the USA.
In this episode, we talk about our early careers filled with adventures and amazing opportunities that also brought uncertainty, fear, and nervousness to our door. I really hope this conversation reminds you that you are not alone in the challenges of making an impact with your life. We've all been there and understand the feeling of living our highest high and our lowest low in the same moment.
